Who will inherit late Princess Diana's childhood home Althorp House? Prince Harry and Prince William won't; here's the recipient

Princess Diana's childhood home, Althorp House, will not be inherited by her sons, Prince William and Prince Harry.

Prince William and Prince Harry will not get their late mother Princess Diana's childhood home. The Althorp Estate, where Princess Diana was raised, is also where she is buried.

Diana is laid to rest in a secluded location on the historic estate, Oval Island, in the center of Oval Lake. The royal brothers will not inherit their mother's ancestral home, even though it is a very significant property for both Prince Harry and Prince William.

Why is Althorp reserved for the Spencer lineage?

Prince Harry and his uncle, Charles Spencer, stayed at Althorp House during a recent trip to the United Kingdom. Although he has maintained a close relationship with Diana's family, the Duke of Sussex is not eligible to inherit the home where she was raised.

According to the Express, the Althorp Estate has served as the ancestral seat of the Spencer family for more than five centuries. As a result, Charles Spencer's son, Louis, Viscount Althorp, will inherit the vast estate and its lands.

Louis, Viscount Althorp, is Charles Spencer's youngest child with his first wife, Victoria Aitken. Due to an outdated rule, Althorp is passed down to the first male heir; however, Louis has three older sisters: Lady Kitty, Lady Amelia, and Lady Eliza. Louis Spencer will inherit Althorp and become the 10th Earl Spencer upon Charles Spencer's death, as quoted in a report by Marie Claire.

Despite coming from such a distinguished family, Louis, Viscount Althorp, keeps a very low profile. The Telegraph quoted a purported "insider" as saying, "He's very private and works quietly on his project. He has great acting talent and will be a great one, in my opinion. You'll like him. He's tall and quiet, sincere, and good-natured.”

Althorp will never be owned by William and Harry, but they will probably always have access to the private island where their late mother is interred. In his book Althorp: The Story of an English House, Charles Spencer described the isolated location as completely purposeful in its remoteness.

Diana's brother has stated that he wanted his sister's final resting place to be a private place for her two sons to visit. He said that it's very important for them to be there with her. Fortunately, there is a lot of peace here, so they are free to come and go whenever they like. And knowing that makes him very happy, as quoted in a report by Marie Claire.
