Umm Hudaifa, the wife of the deceased chief of ISIS Abu Bakr Baghdadi is currently in a prison in Baghdad facing charges related to various terror-related offenses.

Who was Baghdadi?
The couple got married in the year 1999 soon after he finished his studies on Sharia law or Islamic law from the University of Baghdad. She describes him as being “religious but not extremist” during that period. Troubles seem to have begun after the US invasion of Iraq in 2003. In 2014, she was living in Raqqa which was an IS stronghold in Syria with her husband. Baghdadi was on the move continuously as the security forces were looking for him. On one occasion, he had sent guards to take away their children from her. She also saw his ascent within ISIS and she claims to have witnessed the atrocities inflicted on those who opposed the terror group. She also saw several minority groups being used as slaves meant for sexual harassment.She claimed to have confronted him on these killings and the future of their children who were often made to take up arms or married off at an early age.
Charges against Umm Hudaifa
She was arrested in 2018 from Turkey where she was living under a false identity. She was sent back to Iraq where she is currently facing a trial for various alleged terror offenses including facilitating harassment of women.FAQs:
