An American filmmaker and actor, Tyler Perry, gave the first glimpse of everyday life to the Sussexes after they left the royal firm. Now the Prince Harry and Meghan’s docuseries have dropped on Netflix, and we hear the name coming up: Tyler Perry, a close friend of the royal couple helping them at the last minute by offering them his US home.

In the second part of the series, the interviews with Harry and Meghan have much more explosive revelations to unveil, so plenty of viewers have glued to hear conversations during the season.

Who is Tyler Perry?

Tyler is an American filmmaker who is an all-rounder in producing films. Be it direction or playwriting; he excels in all. He has the perfect blend of religious wisdom and humor. Perry has been raised by an abusive father, attempted suicide, and also is a high school dropout. But famous TV presenter Oprah Winfrey inspired him from her personal experiences. Since then, he has started writing plays and movies and has never stopped. One of the accolades Tyler won in 2021 is the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Tyler Perry and his bond with Harry & Meghan

Though the royal couple has never met Tyler in real life, they stayed at his 18-million-dollar estate in the US after they left UK. In the latest episode of Harry and Meghan on Netflix, the couple said that the American filmmaker wrote to the Duchess before her wedding, sending a note praying for her to be able to move through it.

Perry is now the royal couple's daughter's godfather. He revealed that he was so happy with the ‘honour’ and wondered if they should go to the church for a little private ceremony for the royal family's daughter. And so, he has grown significantly close to Harry and Meghan.
