Lord Kamlesh Patel is all set to step down as Chair of iconic Yorkshire County Cricket Club, according to an announcement made by the club. Lord Patel will step down at the club's next annual general meeting (AGM) in March, according to reports.
The 62-year-old Patel was appointed in November 2021. Lord Patel's appointment came after several members of Yorkshire County Cricket Club board decided to step down allegations of racism made by Azeem Rafiq.
Rafiq, a former Yorkshire spinner, claimed in 2020 that he was thinking of taking his own life after abuse at the club.
Patel has said that he would continue overseeing Yorkshire's response to Cricket Discipline Commission (CDC) over racism allegations at the club.
During Patel's tenure Yorkshire County Cricket Club has witnessed a number of significant changes.
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) lifted the suspension and international cricket returned to Headingley.
