BBC presenter Huw Edwards has been named as the person who allegedly paid a young person thousands of pounds for explicit photos, according to reports.

Huw Edwards, one of UK's leading television news anchors, was identified by his wife on Wednesday as the BBC presenter facing allegations he paid a young person thousands of pounds for sexually explicit photos, the broadcaster reported. His wife Vicky Flind said Edwards was in the hospital due to mental health issues.

Huw Edwards has been the anchor of the BBC's News at Ten for the past two decades. Edwards also anchored events such as the King's coronation.

Recently, he shared a post on his Instagram page featuring himself and his BBC colleagues, celebrating their industry award for their comprehensive coverage of Queen Elizabeth II's state funeral at Westminster Abbey in September of the previous year.


Beyond his work, Edwards serves as a vice president of the National Churches Trust and has written about the issue of "vandalism in disused chapels and churches across the United Kingdom."

He is also a patron of the Welsh Buildings Trust, a charitable organization dedicated to the preservation and development of abandoned chapels in Wales that are in need of restoration.

Huw Edwards, aged 61, was born in Bridgend, south Wales, in 1961. He is happily married to TV producer Vicky Flind, and together they have five children.

Raised in a Welsh-speaking household, Edwards comes from a family of academics. His father was a renowned author and research professor of Welsh language literature at University College Swansea, while his mother worked as a teacher.

After attending grammar school, Edwards pursued a degree in French at University College Cardiff. He briefly engaged in postgraduate studies focusing on medieval French before embarking on his career as a reporter at the local radio station Swansea Sound. In 1984, he joined the BBC as a news trainee and two years later became a parliamentary correspondent for BBC Wales. In 1994, he took on the role of presenting the national Six O'Clock News.
