After coming under intense pressure, BBC presenter Geeta Guru-Murthy has apologized to former UK Independence Party leader Nigel Farage. Earlier in a programme, while talking to the pro-Brexit campaigner, she accused him of using "customary inflammatory language". Apologising to the right-wing leader, Geeta Guru-Murthy said her comments "didn't meet the BBC's editorial standards on impartiality".

What happened?

In 'Reform UK' programme, Farage quoted Polish Prime Minister, Donald Tusk, about the state of immigration across Europe, reports the 'Standard'. He repeated Tusk's comments: "...about a wave, and using his words not mine, of aggressive young males that are coming into Poland, having crossed the Mediterranean and he has said this is now a matter of national security."

Before wrapping up the feed, Guru-Murthy said, "Nigel Farage with his... ummm, customary inflammatory language there at a Reform UK press conference. The pro-Brexit leader took to social media platform X, formerly Twitter as he wrote in a post, "Guru-Murthy said to viewers: "Nigel Farage with his... ummm, customary inflammatory language there at a Reform UK press conference."

Netizens slam BBC

Many netizens slammed the BBC and questioned its neutrality. Former Conservative, now Independent MP, Lee Anderson said, "Shocking stuff here from the BBC." He added further, "Time to scrap the license and sack the lot of 'em."

After Guru-Murthy apologised, Farage told 'The Telegraph', “Victory.”
