Rutherford mentioned that Collins has worked hard over the years and is now enjoying his time at home. When asked about the comparison between Collins and his son as drummers, Rutherford stated that he tends to support the dad since he belongs to that generation. He acknowledged that Collins is an exceptional drummer, but Nic is also brilliant in his own way and has a different style from his father.

During Genesis' final tour, Nic played the drums alongside Rutherford, which was a wonderful experience. Due to his health issues, Collins has not been able to play the drums since his injury, which he discussed in a previous interview on BBC Breakfast in 2021.
