Wetherspoon Pubs at Risk: The Complete List of Locations Facing Potential Closures Across the UK
J. D. Wetherspoon is selling several of its UK pubs, including Cardiff, Swindon, and Felixstowe. The company is focusing on closing smaller and older pubs, but new ones are also planned.

Claire Buxton, the manager of the establishment, expressed her happiness at the decision, stating that it would be a delight for both patrons and staff. She added that they look forward to serving the Fleetwood community for many more years to come.

Despite this good news, the Express reports that at least a dozen ‘Spoons’ have already closed, forcing locals to look for new hangouts that can compete with the chain's renownedly affordable meals, drinks, and cosy atmosphere.
The most recent departure from the group is the London & Rye Wetherspoon in Catford, which closed permanently on Sunday, August 25, after 24 years of operation. The pub was listed for sale by estate agency Savills earlier this year, with bids beginning at £850,000.
Customers were worried that the sales might mean that the pub chain is having trouble, but owner Tim Martin has reassured them that the company is closing smaller and older venues that are close to another location. The opening of a new Wetherspoons hotel in Southport was recently approved by Sefton Council, expanding their portfolio of 55 town centre properties. Next month, two more pubs in England are scheduled to open, one of which is The Lion & The Unicorn, located at London's Waterloo Station.
Wetherspoon pubs for sale include The Pontlottyn in Abertillery, The Ivor Davies in Cardiff, Spa Lane Vaults in Chesterfield, The Sir Daniel Arms in Swindon, The Plough and Harrow in London, and Sennockian in Sevenoaks. Other pubs for sale include the Hain Line in St. Ives, Lord Claud Hamilton in Felixstowe (an underdeveloped site), Barid's Department Store in Hamilton (another underdeveloped site), Foot of the Walk in Leith, Thomas Drummond in Fleetwood, and The Quay in Poole. Additionally, the Cross Keys in Peebles is marked as under offer.
