Wembley Stadium has made its significant place in every footballer’s heart as it has been titled as “home of English football.’ Hence playing in Wembley Stadium is considered one of the greatest opportunities for players. After the redevelopment of Wembley, it was decided by the FA that all semi-finals along with the finals will be played in it further from 2008 irrespective of the nation of the teams playing. However, fans showed their disagreement and anger toward the decision as some of them would have to travel extra to see the matches. Also, earlier, the game was to hold at one of the most popular provincial grounds in the country but it is not the case now and this has made fans upset.

Reasons for playing FA Cup Semi-finals at Wembley Stadium

The reason is entirely monetary. FA shifted the venue for matches from neutral club grounds in 2007 to Wembley Stadium to gain more income from ticket sales as the place has a capacity of 90000 people at a time. The heavily restricted services were seen in the 2022 semi-final of Liverpool with Manchester City agitated supporters of both teams. The frustration arouse especially due to strikes and timetable-related clashes.
