UK’s Queen Consort Camilla to present Booker Prize for 2022

Alan Garner, 88, who is the oldest novelist ever nominated, or Claire Keegan, who wrote the shortest novel in the history of the Booker Prize may win this year. On the occasion, the singer-songwriter Dua Lipa will speak about her passion for reading at London's Roundhouse.

Late Hilary Mantel, a two-time Booker Prize winner, will also receive a tribute. Mantel passed away last month at the age of 70. She was awarded the prize for two of her critically acclaimed Wolf Hall trilogy books.



Six authors, who have been shortlisted, are expected to attend the evening ceremony of the Booker Prize 2022 in person, with one exception. It is anticipated that Alan Garner, whose birthday is on Monday, will appear virtually.

After the coronavirus pandemic, this is the first complete Booker Prize ceremony that has taken place in person in three years. Starting at 21:15 BST, the event will broadcast on Front Row on BBC Radio 4.

The winner will get a cash award of £50,000.

Neil MacGregor, who is the chair of judges of the Booker Prize 2022, said that shortlisting the books was not easy. According to him, despite being brief, the selected novels were not simple. However, some great joys demand work, and they found those that were worth the effort.
