According to Maxim Timchenko, individuals should leave if they can to help Ukraine conserve energy.

Maxim Timchenko, CEO of Ukraine's largest private energy provider, DTEK, said individuals should consider leaving the country to reduce the burden on the country's power network. Timchenko told a media outlet that if they can find another location to remain for three or four months, it will be very beneficial for the system.

Russian assaults have harmed nearly half of Ukraine's electricity infrastructure. Millions of people are without power as winter approaches.

Blackouts, both scheduled and unscheduled, have become prevalent in many regions of Ukraine as Russia targets elements of the electricity infrastructure daily. Dmitry Peskov, a Kremlin spokesperson, said earlier this week that the attacks were the result of Ukraine's reluctance to talk with Russia.

Timchenko, whose firm supplies more than a fifth of Ukraine's power, argues that with each Russian strike, the system becomes less stable, and that decreasing electricity use is the key to keeping it operating. The government has recommended people to use home appliances such as stoves and washing machines sparingly.

As the damaged energy system is still unable to produce enough electricity to meet current demands, any reduction in usage, including leaving the country, should be viewed as aiding Ukraine's victory over Russia, according to Timchenko.
