Heavy rains are expected in several areas of the UK on New Year’s Eve. There is a 40 per cent chance of rain in Manchester at midnight on Saturday and a 50% chance of rain in the capital. The Met Office's long-range forecasts indicate there is a 60 per cent chance of rain for those celebrating in Cardiff. Those celebrating their new year at Belfast's bars and pubs will have a better chance of avoiding rain as there is currently only a 20 per cent chance of perspiration according to forecast.
On New Year's Eve, temperatures are forecast to range from 11 to 12°C (51.8 to 53.6°F) in the south and up to 5-8°C (41 to 46.4°F) in the north. And while it appears that the north will continue to experience chilly temperatures, residents in the south can at least anticipate a few days of better weather in January.
On New Year's Day, London and Belfast will see clear skies, Manchester will experience some sun and light showers, while Cardiff will experience cloudy conditions. However, it's bad news for residents of Edinburgh, who will certainly awaken to heavy rain on Sunday morning. The south and east are anticipated to get drier later next week, bringing about less humid weather in the coming days.

Weather is erratic, and because of the gusts and heavy rains, it will eventually grow cold. On Tuesday and Wednesday, the majority of Scotland will be under yellow ice warnings, and travel delays are possible due to weather-related issues with several roads and railways.
From Wednesday at 2am. to 3pm, a yellow rain warning will be in force for Plymouth and Cardiff as well as portions of southwest England and Wales. Strong winds will eventually distribute rain to most locations, although the far north appears to be in good shape, and it will often be warm.
