The Met Office and the UK Health Security Agency have jointly issued a warning that every part of England will face cold weather from 1am on Monday until midnight on Wednesday.
Dr Agostinho Sousa, who leads the UKHSA's extreme events and health protection department, has advised people to keep a check on their loved ones, particularly those who are more susceptible to the effects of the cold weather, as it can have a significant impact on health.
Chris Almond, the deputy chief meteorologist at the Met Office, has stated that despite having entered the meteorological spring season, the weather next week will still feel wintry.
As very cold air moves across the UK, there will be snow showers in the North, even at sea level, on Monday, and these snow showers may spread southwards on Tuesday.
The Met Office has explained that this wintry weather is due to a "highly amplified" jet stream mixing with an area of low pressure over the Mid-North Atlantic, which will propel air upwards towards Greenland and then back down towards the UK.
This wintry spell follows England's driest February in 30 years, during which the country received only 45% of its average rainfall for the month, with just 43.4mm.
