UK Train strikes: Days, refund and everything else you need to know

Many trains scheduled between December 2 to December 8 will face a change due to strikes by the rail workers in UK. As part of protests, they will not be working overtime from December 1.

ASLEF, which is the union for train drivers in UK have planned to stage walk outs between December 2 and December 8 which will lead to a change in the train schedules for different companies between the set dates.

As part of the protest, drivers are also refusing to work overtime from December 1 to December 9.

Which train company will be affected on what day?

  • December 2, 204: East Midlands Railway and LNER
  • December 3, 2024: Avanti West Coast, Chiltern, Great Northern Thameslink, and West Midlands Trains
  • December 5, 2024: C2C and Greater Anglia
  • December 6, 2024: Southeastern, Southern/Gatwick Express, SWR main line, SWR depot drivers, and Island Line
  • December 7, 2024: CrossCountry and GWR
  • December 8, 2024: Northern and TPT

Are there still strikes on the Tube?
As of now, the strikes on the tube were called off after there was progress in talks between union and London Underground. The workers still voting about the deal over pay, job security and working conditions.

That voting for the deal will close on November 30.

What about the refund?
In case you have tickets booked in advance, you will a refunded amount if there is any change in the train schedule, that is if your train is cancelled, delayed or rescheduled. In case of return tickets, you are also liable for a refund for that as well.

Those who have season tickets, be it flexi, monthly or longer, but cannot travel can claim full compensation for strike dates through the 'Delay Repay scheme.'
