UK train strike: Who qualifies for compensation during rail strikes, and how are refunds claimed?

Life has come to a complete stop as a result of the recent train strike in the UK. Customers have the option of using their access to travel on another day or receiving a refund for their ticket price.

The train strike that took place a few months ago has brought life to a standstill in the UK. About 40,000 train officials were on strike. The strike was to increase the pay of transport workers as there was an increase in inflation and lifestyle.

In this chaos, it is the passengers who suffer. Many had booked their tickets for dates, and thus the rail companies have decided to compensate them. The customers can use their access to travel on some other day or will get a refund of their ticket amount.

However, not all people can avail of this compensation. For example, those travelling with a season or advanced ticket can get a partial refund. Even people with a walk-up ticket can take up this type of refund.

The process of taking a refund is lengthy. First, customers are asked to contact the train company with proof of their travel, i.e., a photo of the ticket and other details of the itinerary.
