After the demise of the Queen, there will be printing and circulation of new stamps and banknotes with King Charles III’s picture by mid-2024. The King's portrait will be on the existing designs of banknotes of £5, £10, £20, and £50. As confirmed by the Royal Mail, stamps of the first and second class, including issues of special stamps, will also replace the Queen’s image with Charles’s silhouette. However, the Royal Mint claimed that coins featuring King Charles III would be circulated in a few months.

The Bank of England, in a press release, said that the new notes would only be printed to replace the damaged or worn notes and to meet the demand for notes.

Statement given by the Royal Mail

As per the Royal Household’s guidance, the stock of stamps and special stamps featuring the Queen’s silhouette will be distributed as decided earlier to maintain the financial and environmental impact of the monarch’s change.
