When Neville Linton opened his fridge and took out broccoli neatly packed in a plastic wrapper, he could not believe his eyes. He was shocked to find a ladder snake slithering in the vegetable he had bought from a superstore.

Neville was not to blame, nor the store from where he bought the vegetable. Actually, the snake was in a vegetable field in southwestern Europe from where it was collected along with broccoli, unintentionally of course, and shipped to the British Aldi shop in Birmingham. Nick picked up the broccoli and the snake along with it from the supermarket in Stourbridge, Midlands.

Surprisingly, the snake remained in the fridge for three days before it was discovered and it was still alive. Neville was so shocked and afraid of the little snake that he called his sister Ann Marie Tenkanemin for help.

Neville said that the broccoli was not kept outside the fridge and so the snake was not allowed to roam in the kitchen. The ladder snakes are not venomous, but they can bite and there were two vulnerable persons in the house. Neville and his sister put the snake in a box and took it to the superstore from where Neville had bought the broccoli. The supermarket authorities called the people from a zoo and the snake was transferred to that palace.

Neville was offered compensation, but he rejected it saying that it was not good enough as the snake carried a huge danger because two vulnerable persons were there in the house. Neville is also phobic of snakes.

A spokesperson for Aldi said that the matter is being investigated and the store has apologized to Neville.
