After negotiations with the Rail Delivery Group (RDG), it was expected that the December rail strikes might be put off (National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers).

However, Mick Lynch, RMT General Secretary, revealed that they had rejected the offer from RDG of a 4% pay increase for 2022 and 2023 because it does not fulfil any of our requirements for obtaining a settlement on long-term job security, a reasonable wage increase, and maintaining working conditions.

When will the next rail strike occur?

The next train driver strike is scheduled for Tuesday, December 13. The activity lasts 48 hours and continues through December 15. Although no walkouts are planned on Thursday, expect delays as a result of the previous two days of strikes.

An overtime prohibition will also be in effect from December 18 to January 2, potentially disrupting for four weeks.
