Prime Minister Liz Truss claimed that higher energy bills are a small price for the UK's long-term stability.

Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Liz Truss will use her speech at the UN General Assembly in New York to bolster support for Ukraine. From October, the average home energy bill will increase to £2,500. This is partly because Russian gas exports have decreased because of the conflict in Ukraine.

The UK "cannot compromise its security for the sake of cheap energy," according to UK PM Liz Truss.

On her trip to New York, UK PM Truss had reportedly stated that rising fuel costs were "a price worth paying for Britain since our long-term security is vital."

The policies, she claimed, will prevent further increases in energy costs and 'ensure' that consumers "won't have to pay fuel bills that are exorbitant."

According to Labor, the plans outlined by UK PM Truss would not decrease costs or increase their energy security.

The party has stated that her refusal to support raising the windfall tax on energy companies' earnings to pay for the price limit freeze will "leave these massive gains on the table with one clear and apparent consequence: the cost will be picked up by working people."

When presenting her strategy to increase domestic energy output, UK PM Truss claimed that the Western world had grown excessively dependent on authoritarian regimes, not just for our energy supply but also for other essential minerals and other items.

To combat rising prices, Liz Truss ruled out rationing energy.

Since Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, gas and oil prices have skyrocketed. Since then, Russia has frequently shut down the Nord Stream 1 pipeline, reducing Europe's access to gas and raising energy prices.
