Since May 2019, it has become mandatory for married couples to have attained the State Pension age to be eligible for the £3,500 earning boost. The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has recently come up with new plans to encourage the same, according to reports.

DWP’s Announcement

As per the recent announcement by DWP or Department for Work and Pensions, it has set new plans to motivate over 11 million individuals of State Pension age to know if they are eligible for a boost of £3,500 in their annual earnings.

The department confirmed that at the beginning of 2023, it would be writing to older individuals across the United Kingdom as part of the yearly uprating of State Pensions, giving them the details of the new payment rates. The written information by DWP will also include all updated information about Pension Credit. It will do so to encourage more take-up of the advantage that can serve as a passport to extra assistance with Council Tax, housing, and heating.
