UK National Grid’s new scheme saves £100 off your energy bills, details inside
National Grid announced this winter that it was launching a plan to help save some money from energy bills by reducing energy use during peak periods. Each household can save up to £100 by participating in this plan. This phase will be tested over...

Homeowners with smart meters can participate, and participating customers will be notified 24 hours in advance. You must use less energy between 4 pm and 7 pm on the test day to receive the reduced energy bill.
Customers will be informed of the amount they will receive if they participate in the program by National Grid. Demand Flexibility Service is what National Grid calls it. Blackouts may occur if the country keeps its energy consumption high. The supplier says families will save around £100 on their bills by joining the scheme.
Three hundred twenty thousand customers have already signed up. It doesn't cost a dime, and no one is punished if they use electricity during periods when they are asked to reduce it.
Although it is still being determined how many suppliers will be able to sign up for the National Grid scheme, OVO Energy is launching a separate program with the same objective. The supplier reaches out to households that will benefit the most from this scheme. Around 7,000 households have signed up for OVO's scheme so far.
