Rosie Cooper, a Member of Parliament from the Labour Party in the UK, has resigned to accept her new role as an NHS manager. She is an MP from West Lancashire. While announcing her resignation, Cooper said that it was an 'honour' and 'privilege' for her to serve her constituents for seventeen years.
Cooper will now become chair of Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust. The resignation of MP Rosie Cooper is expected to trigger a byelection in her constituency. However, she did not announce a definite date for stepping down from the parliament.

Cooper added that her decision could surprise many people because she was recently reselected as the Labour Party candidate in the West Lancashire constituency for the next general election. She clarified that the decision regarding her candidature in the next general election was taken before the recruitment process for the position at Mersey Care.
