UK couple saves stranded octopus from seagulls, guides it to sea near Holyhead

Seeing an octopus on dry land is quite a rare moment, and a couple rescued one from harm's way by guiding it to sea. The incident happened when the couple was walking at Penrhos beach near Holyhead. Jamie and Stacey McNeil were thrilled when their dog found a stranded octopus, curiously sniffing at it on the beach. The colour of the octopus was caramel brown, and the cute little slimy blob was clueless about a hungry bunch of seagulls eyeing it for their dinner.

The couple was kind enough to lead it back to its water world by placing it near the beach's edge and encouraging it to go home.

Jamie and Stacy first thought it to be a ball their pet had probably dug out. On a closer look, they saw the tentacles and beautiful reddish-brown colour and picked it up along with the small rock it had grabbed for support.





Stacey (34) was thrilled that they could save the day for their slimy friend and gave their dog the full credit for having spotted the helpless fellow.

Stacey said she carried the creature to the edge of the water and let him slither out slowly to the water. Earlier, one of the tentacles of the octopus was gradually trying to scale up her arm.

Stacey said that she will be keeping the pictures and details of the octopus for her new book.
