Fortune can favour a person at anytime of life. This statement holds true for a UK couple as they found some gold coins under the floorboard of their kitchen.

According to Britain-based 'The Times", a UK couple has found 264 ancient gold coins buried under their kitchen's floorboard. The couple found the old gold coins while renovating their 18th century house in the village of Ellerby. The coins belong to the reigns of James I and Charles I, and date from 1610 to 1727.

The current market worth of the 264 gold coins is around Rs 2.3 crore. The couple discovered the coins in 2019, but these coins were disclaimed officially in 2022, paving the way for their auction. The coins will undergo an auction, which will be organised by Spink & Son, said The Times.

Spike & Son's Gregory Edmund stated that he was excited to learn about the current value of the ancient coins in a public marketplace.

The couple initially thought it was an electric cable, but when they lifted the kitchen floorboard, the pair hit the jackpot after discovering the gold coins stored in a metal can, which was only six inches under the floor. The size of the metal can was the same as that of a Coke can, added The Times.

The North Yorkshire couple has been living in the house for the last 10 years. However, the name of the couple has not been disclosed yet.

Recently, some gold coins were also discovered in an old house in India. Some labourers had found 86 gold coins while demolishing the house in the Dhar district of Madhya Pradesh. The coins' worth was Rs 60 lakh. However, the labourers were arrested after they were found selling gold coins.
