UK cost-of-living help of £900 for over 8 million people: See payment dates here

Payments to those on Universal Credit, Pension Credit, and tax credits will begin in the spring and will be made straight to bank accounts in three £300 cash boosts.

Amid rising food and energy prices, around eight million households in the UK would get three cost-of-living payments totaling £900 in the fiscal year 2023/2024. The funds will be distributed to low-income households.
The assistance was initially revealed in last year's Autumn Statement to alleviate the cost of living challenges that British citizens face. It is comparable to the £650 cost of living payments issued in 2022, which were paid in two installments.

Jeremy Hunt, Chancellor of the Exchequer, stated that he understands how difficult it is for people across the UK to pay rising food and energy prices as a result of Covid and Putin's conflict in Ukraine.

The payments are in addition to the £650 in cost of living allowances provided to households in 2022. That equates to about 400,000 households in the North East.

Payments to those on Universal Credit, Pension Credit, and tax credits will begin in the spring and will be made straight to bank accounts in three £300 cash boosts. The second payment will be given in the autumn, and the third in the spring of 2024.

In addition to their winter fuel payments, over 6 million disabled individuals will get £150, and over 8 million pensioners will receive £300.

Next year, there will be an additional £900 in the pockets of almost 8 million low-income households. These payouts come on top of above-inflation increases in working-age benefits and the Energy Price Guarantee, which protects millions from rising worldwide gas costs. The DWP has stated how the £900 would be distributed. It will be split into three installments between April 2022 and the end of March 2023.

Those who qualify for the 2023/2024 cost of living payments will get funds from either the DWP or HMRC, depending on the benefits they receive. The payment will be made in three installments throughout the fiscal year, which spans from April 2023 to March 31, 2024. The first payment will be £301; the second will be £300; and the third will be £299.
