UK claims Russia achieved only 'humiliation' from invading Ukraine

The United Kingdom's Defence Secretary Ben Wallace has claimed that Russia could achieve only 'humiliation' from invading Ukraine. The defense secretary said that the retreat of Russian forces from Kherson was "another strategic failure" of Vladimir Putin, who failed to achieve any of his key goals.

Ben Wallace stated that the Russian army had suffered a massive loss of life due to "their illegal invasion" of Ukraine.





He said the invasion brought only "international isolationism" to Russia. The UK defense secretary noted that the international community would continue to support Ukraine, but they would not underestimate the threats posed by Russia.

Meanwhile, Yuriy Sak, an advisor to the Ukrainian defense minister, said there was a 'panic' in Russian ranks. He stated that Russians have now started to 'believe' that they could never win this war. However, he cautioned that the war was "far from over". Sak said that they had initiated the stabilization measures in Kherson.

The United States, on November 12, also praised Ukraine's 'extraordinary' victory. US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan stated that Kherson was back under a Ukrainian flag due to the "incredible tenacity and skills" of the people of Ukraine. Although Ukraine has yet to claim that the city is back in its hands officially, its president Volodymyr Zelensky stated that life was "returning." Notably, Kherson was among the first Ukrainian cities captured by the Russian forces.
