UFC Championships is a much sought-after-reality fight channel that has a worldwide following. Connor McGregor, an earlier champion, is among the highest pay-per-view individuals in UFC history. After breaking his leg and being forced out of play against Dustin Poirier in 2021, McGregor is trying to make a comeback. The Irishman has had a drop in form in the past four fights.
McGregor has won one fight among the four he participated in. This has led to many of his rivals throwing their hat into the ring for a battle against him. One such contender is 155lbs star Justin Gaethje who has vowed to fight McGregor at least once in the ring. His bitter rival Ali Abdelaziz thinks Mcgregor is avoiding a fight with Gaethje. McGregor has been accused of wanting to fight easy bouts and being unwilling to fight anymore.
McGregor is putting on weight, which could be a primary reason he wants to avoid the fight against Gaethje. That way, McGregor upscales to the 170lb category, and it would be against his principle to fight Justin Gaethje. The American is, however, not willing to forget the opportunity and would want to fight anyway if McGregor signs the agreement to acknowledge the challenge.

Thailand has a chequered history when it comes to MMA, the government banning the sport as "brutal and not boxing" in 2012 before slowly allowing promotions such as One Championship to stage events. Former wrester Hickman turned to coaching and helped to popularise MMA after arriving in Phuket in 2014. "There hadn't been any education on it. But that has changed. There are MMA events in Thailand and now Loma has been signed (to UFC) that's helped Thailand become a hotbed for MMA training," Hickman said.

McGregor had challenged Gaethje if he beat Charles Oliveira. Still, Gaethje lost to Oliveira, allowing McGregor to fight Gaethje and secure a winning comeback after a long sabbatical. The fight against Oliveira has had Gaethje suffer his second loss, which could be why McGregor would like to try him out.
McGregor is a former UFC featherweight and lightweight double champion. He was also a champion in the Cage Warriors, an Irish-owned championship.
