Nate and Nick Diaz are two of the UFC's most respected and formidable fighters. They're not afraid of anyone, even the ex-never-defeated victor Khabib Nurmagomedov. Since retiring from competitive fighting after defeating Justin Gaethje at UFC 254 in 2020, the unbeaten Russian has focused on training boxers rather than competing, but his determination and desire to succeed have not wavered.

Having fought on the streets of Stockton, California as a child, Diaz, the 29-0 fighter, has never turned down a fight. It all began, Khabib witnessed Jake Shields, a friend of the Diaz brothers, and the battle on the same night his brother fought during the World Series of Fighting (now the Professional Fighters League) in 2015.

In October 2019, Diaz remembered the incident when asked whether he ever wanted to fight Khabib when interviewed by journalist and broadcaster Ariel Helwani. He ran into Khabib and his teammates in the World Championship and watched Jake fight. They clicked a group photograph with him behind them and were amused at me, like, 'Ah, man. They were all chuckling, 12 Russians. After they made fun of him, he punched him and asked him, "What? But he didn't answer.
