The crossover combat was Ngannou first time in the boxing ring. Despite being his debut match, fighting Ngannou was not easy for Fury. This match has been described as one of the ‘toughest match’ of Fury in his illustrious career spanning over 25 years.
In round three of a total of ten rounds, Fury dropped to the floor after Ngannou used a left hook. This drop was the seventh time Fury has ever dropped in the entirety of his career.
Finally, after this, in the fifth round, Fury was able to regain his power and carried his returned energy to the sixth one.
Making the decision was not easy for the panel.
One judge scored 95-94 to Ngannou, but the other two officials scored the fight 96-93 and 95-94 to Fury.
The tussle was witnessed by celebrities such as Kanye West and Eminem, as well as Cristiano Ronaldo, UFC headliner Conor McGregor and current and former boxing greats, Sugar Ray Leonard and Manny Pacquiao.
After Fury's win, he will be facing WBA, IBF and WBO champion Oleksandr Usyk, with both men attempting to become the first heavyweight since Lennox Lewis to hold the undisputed championship.
