King Charles will take part in his first Trooping the Colour event as a monarch on June 17, which has been the formal birthday celebration for the British monarch for more than 260 years. He will continue the tradition of having a summer Birthday parade.

The Queen Consort and other members of the family have volunteered to participate in military ceremonial duties, and the date of the King's first formal birthday procession has been set for next summer.

The annual celebration, which features a flypast over Buckingham Palace and hundreds of soldiers parading at Horse Guards Parade, will take place on June 17, 2023, according to an announcement from the palace.

The custom is thought to have begun in 1748, under the reign of King George II. Despite the fact that George II was born in October, the yearly Trooping of the Colour has come to honour both the king and the military services.

Although the people celebrated Queen Elizabeth's birthday in June rather than her real birthday on April 21 because of the nicer weather, King Charles celebrates his birthday in November, and it seems that he will plan the public celebrations to coincide with his mother's birthday.

British monarchs observe their birthdays twice: once privately on the actual day (in Charles's instance, November 14) and once publicly in June, in keeping with a long-standing custom to attempt to avoid the whims of the weather.

Beginning at the monarch's official London residence, Buckingham Palace, the birthday procession will conclude with a flypast by the Royal Air Force, which Charles and members of his close family will see from the balcony of the palace. More than 1,400 troops will parade throughout the occasion, along with 200 horses and 400 musicians.

The 2023 parade will convene on May 6, just over a month after Charles' coronation ceremony. The tradition of the event dates back to the time when troops were shown all the flags as part of the war preparations so they would be able to identify them amid the chaos of battle.
