Railway workers in the UK have taken up the streets on strikes. These strikes are bound to cause several disruptions in the rail system during the Christmas festivities.

As railway workers in the UK are likely to continue their strike against wages, authorities have advised commuters to avoid travelling on Saturday unless it is absolutely essential. The Christmas Eve strike by Railway workers across the UK for wages is expected to have a significant effect on services.
Trains will cease to run at around 15:00 before the railway workers sit on strike at 18:00. Alongside the railway workers, postal workers and the border force staff will also partake in strikes.
The border force staff will strike till the end of the year but December 27 shall be an exception. Nevertheless, the staff shall engage in a warning strike if discourses on new pay deals are not initiated.
Unlike the Border Force Staff, the Railway personnel will engage in industrial action until 6:00 on the December 27. Network Rail, the company that manages the UK railways, said that the railway services will be significantly reduced on Christmas Eve.
Long-distance trains will depart significantly earlier, with some rail operators unable to operate at all. The final train from Leeds to London is at 09:45, 11:22 from London to Edinburgh, and 12:48 from London to Manchester.
