Matt Doherty of Tottenham Hotspur has said that Olivier Giroud will hopefully become the top scorer today if he gets the ball at the back of the net. With that, Thierry Henry's record being the highest scorer for France will be breached.

Giroud was sold by Arsenal to Chelsea for £18 million as a transfer fee, and he has been undoubtedly performing at his peak for the club. The 36-year-old player from France has helped AC Milan reach the top of the Championships table in Serie A, where he is now settled. He has helped Arsenal win the FA cup thrice during his time with them.
From 2012 to 2018, Giroud played for Arsenal till he was sold to rivals Chelsea. He was worth it as he won the Ligue 1 title with Montpellier in 2011-12. With Chelsea, Giroud contributed to their win in the UEFA Champions League in 2021. The UEFA Europa League was also grabbed with Giroud for the Blues in 2019. Giroud also helped win Chelsea's FA cup in 2018, beating Manchester United 1-0.
Giroud won the coveted "Ligue 2 Player of the Year" in 2010 at 23. With that, he joined Montpellier and began his Ligue 1 career for a transfer fee of €2 million. With Montpellier, he became the top goal scorer, and also he helped them become Champions of Ligue 1 for the first time. He played for France for the first time at 25, making his total appearances 115. Giroud went on to help France win the 2018 World Cup and is a legend in the making.
