Tory Lanez, whose actual name is Daystar Peterson, may face up to 22 years in prison and deportation back to Canada. He was found guilty of firing a firearm with gross negligence, assault with a semiautomatic firearm, and transporting a loaded, unlicensed handgun in a vehicle by the jury.

Megan Thee Stallion testified in court that the shooting was preceded by a violent disagreement between Megan and Lanez, particularly when they began insulting each other's music careers.

Lanez was strangely silent as the decision was read out. In the courtroom, he was handcuffed. Prosecutors emphasised Megan's bravery in coming forward and the hatred she felt as a result of it in their closing arguments.

They said she had no motivation to speak the truth. In his closing statement, Lanez's counsel claimed that the bullets were fired by Megan's then-best friend Kelsey Harris in a jealous battle over Lanez, who sought to halt the shooting.
