'Lady Boss: The Jackie Collins Story', which premieres on BBC Two tonight (August 2) at 9 p.m., honours Jackie Collins' pioneering life. Jackie Collins' success in cinema and television may have been overshadowed by that of her older sister, Joan Collins, who was 89 years old and is best known for her roles in Glow & Darkness, Dynasty, The Royals, and Benidorm, but Jackie's life is no less noteworthy .

What is Jackie Collins renowned for?
The Collins sisters and their younger brother, Bill Collins, were destined from birth for a career in show business. As a talent agent, their father, Joseph Williams Collins, represented well-known individuals, including Dame Shirley Bassey, Sir Tom Jones, and even the Beatles.

Despite striving for success like her sister, Jackie was never as well-known on the big screen. She eventually sold over 500 million copies in 40 different languages after switching to writing.

The World Is Full Of Married Men, her first book published in the 1960s, was promoted as a romance story despite having a reputation for controversial writing. Despite being a huge success in the UK and USA, it ultimately became illegal in Australia and South Africa. But her books kept selling like hotcakes, making her one of the era's most widely read authors.

Joan and Jackie Collins' relationship
At the end, Jackie chose a career in literature while her sister was making headlines on the big screen, helping to define a generation in the process. For many years, there had been rumours of competition between the two sisters, which the movie also examines. Years of discussion surrounded their relationship, although it doesn't seem like they frequently butted heads. When they were teenagers, according to Lady Boss director Laura Fairrie, Jackie felt "inferior" to her sister. Vanity Fair quoted Laura as saying: "It was fascinating to hold these diaries and watch as a very young woman striving to make it in the world described that incredibly private experience through her eyes. Imagine having a younger sister like Joan Collins."

Jackie battled breast cancer till she passed away in 2015 at the age of 77. Just nine days before she passed away, she travelled from her home in Los Angeles to the UK to appear on Loose Women while concealing her condition.

Earlier flowering could increase the risk of frost damage and also threaten insects, birds and other wildlife that depend on the flowering of certain plants at specific times of the growing season. That's what scientists fear.

They also compared them with historical temperature records which have shown the climate getting warmer.

If the changes had been at uniform pace it wouldn't have been so much cause for concern. Some parts of the ecosystem are more sensitive and are responding quickly, whereas others are much slower.
