‘The Karate Kid’ movie: Ralph Macchio shares why legendary film still connects with audience

It’s a super weekend at the theatres! There are eight movies that are hitting the theatres this weekend, and it promises to be a fun affair! From ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’, ‘Thai Massage’ To ‘Yashoda’, here's a wrap of the new releases. Go on, make your weekend plan!

‘Thai Massage’ is a Hindi-language adult-comedy film directed by three-time National Award winner Mangesh Hadawale. Set in Ujjain it has Gajraj Rao as 70-year-old celibate widower Aatmaram Dubey who heads to Thailand for carnal pleasures after he suffers erectile dysfunction. A social commentary on sexual mores and choices, the film also has Divyendu Sharma, Sunny Hinduja and Rajpal Yadav in lead roles.

Sooraj Barjatya is back, after a 7-year hiatus, with ‘Uunchai’. And while there is no Salman ‘Prem’ Khan, there is an ensemble troupe comprising Amitabh Bachchan, Anupam Kher, Boman Irani, Danny Denzongpa, Parineeti Chopra, Neena Gupta and Sarika. Four friends on the verge of retirement plan a Mt Everest trail - but their plan goes awry when one dies. The film explores the friendship and the dynamic between them.

Choreographer Bosco Leslie Martis makes his directorial debut with ‘Rocket Gang’. with Aditya Seal and Nikita Dutta in lead roles. This horror drama follows a gang of five who are hit by spooky things after they arrive at a resort for a break. If you like all things horror, this could be your weekend watch!

Samantha Ruth Prabhu is on cloud nine! ‘Yashoda’, directed by Hari and Harish, has already clocked Rs 50 cr pre-release business, her highest so far. She plays a surrogate mother Yashoda, who joins a facility that takes care of many other surrogate mothers hired to birth the children of influential people. If you have enjoyed her stint in ‘The Family Man’, we recommend this gritty thriller which is being released in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi as well.

‘Kartoot’ is a Hindi-language drama starring Madalasa Sharna, Sahil Kohli, Himani Shivpuri and singer Anup Jalota. Directed by Anil Dutt, this drama explores the storyline of a married couple much in love with each other. Their marital bliss is ruptured after a series of deceitful things crop up, threatening the fabric of their relationship.

‘Bal Naren’, directed by Pawan Nagpal, traces its plot to the ‘Swach Bharat Abhiyan’ and the importance of cleanliness during the Covid-19 pandemic. It explores the tale of a 14-year-old boy who stopped his village from contracting any case of Coronavirus, thanks to his sheer audacity, determination and his presence of mind. It also starsYagya Bhasin, Bidita Bag, Rajneesh Duggal, Govind Namdev and Vindu Dara Singh.

‘Monica O My Darling’ is a Hindi-language film, directed by ‘83’ writer Vasan Bala. And while it is not in the theatres, this neo-noir crime-comedy film makes for a perfect curl-up-at-home Saturday night watch, with lots of popcorn and cola by the side. A young man who desperately tries to make it big with some unlikely allies might have you hooked to the seat. It stars Rajkummar Rao, Huma Qureshi, Radhika Apte, Radhika Madam and Sikander Kher in lead roles.

If you are in the mood to watch a nail-biting thriller movie, then you should book tickets for ‘Anth The End’. Directed by KS Malhotra, the film revolves around a serial psycho killer who has managed to escape prison and is on a killing spree.
