The day has come when Netflix relented and gave a disclaimer that ‘The Crown’ which is now launching its fifth season, is 'fictional'. As children and even some adults are prone to believing whatever the OTT dishes out as reality and people think that the stories narrated through Netflix are historical or real events.
Netflix however has agreed to giving out disclaimers after mounting pressures from many quarters, especially Dame Judi Dench. So, Netflix states that theirs is a fictional dramatisation of the reign of Queen Elizabeth II. This disclaimer has been added to their trailer on YouTube and Twitter. The trailer depicts Elizabeth Debicki as Princess Diana giving her interview to Martin Bashir of BBC while announcing 'I won't go quietly.'

Dame Judi Dench had given her backing to people who demanded that Netflix issue a disclaimer and called the company "cruelly unjust".
She added that Netflix was blurring the lines between historical accuracy as it narrates recent times. Especially people abroad were concluding that this is "wholly true".

Netflix also tried to show that King Charles III plotted against his mother to give up the throne so he could take over, which is not true. This hurts the individuals as they are still around, and it isn't kind of the company to do so. Prime Minister Sir John Major also had a few solid words for Netflix. He denied anything about a plot ever happening.
However, the new series will go on air on November 9 and feature Margaret Thatcher and John Major.
