While commenting on the agreement, Rangers manager Bruce Bochy stated they were "thrilled" and "excited" that Jacob was coming to Texas. Bochy said Jacob was one of the best pitchers in the world, and the deal would make their club "much better."

Bochy added that Jacob was a humble man and excited to listen to what they had to offer him. The club manager also said several clubs were in talks with Jacob, but the pitcher made up his mind without taking much time. Bochy said they were trying to get back to bringing winning baseball back to Texas.
