A teacher was reportedly stabbed at Tewkesbury School in the UK's Gloucestershire. Subsequently, a teenage boy was apprehended by the Gloucestershire police and the teacher was hospitalized. The incident prompted the school authority to enforce a lockdown. The head teacher emphasized the severity of the situation but assured parents that all students were safe. Additionally, Tirlebrook Primary School, located nearby, also implemented a lockdown as advised. There is uncertainty regarding the impact on Alderman Knight School, a special needs facility that shares the same premises.

In a statement, Kathleen McGillycuddy, the head teacher of Tewkesbury School, acknowledged the concerns arising from the incident. She reassured parents that all students were unharmed and provided details about the events that unfolded. The school promptly initiated a lockdown and contacted the police upon learning of the incident. They are currently following the advice of the authorities on when and how to share further updates.

As a precautionary measure, the lockdown remains in effect, according to the statement.


The South Western Ambulance Service dispatched three ambulances and two operations officers to the scene following a call received at 09:08 BST. The victim was subsequently transported to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital.

Lawrence Robertson, Member of Parliament for Tewksbury, expressed his shock, sadness, and concern regarding the incident in an interview with the BBC. He emphasized that weapons have no place within schools or society at large.
