The song's chorus lyrics say that she is embarrassed by all of the things living inside of her. She can't see it, and it is embarrassing that the love that she seeks is living inside of her. She can't see because she is blind.

SZA did not go into detail about the overall theme she has based the new album on. But she has recently spoken publicly about her creative process. She said that through her music, she had created the person she wanted to see in the world. She says that in black music, the usual; theme is the home girl next door but that she wants the girl next door energy because she doesn't believe that she needs to fit a phenotype.
