Former British television presenter Sue Barker has criticized the BBC's handling of her departure. Barker, a former professional tennis player, claimed during her appearance on BBC Breakfast that the organization wanted her to indicate she was retiring of her own volition rather than being replaced as part of a refresh.

Barker said that she had been working with the most amazing individuals for 24 years. They were aware that the replacement would occur but what was surprising to them was how it was handled and how the BBC essentially wanted her to announce her departure.

She further added that she would never quit a job she enjoys. She has no problem getting it replaced. However, she believes that everyone regrets how it was handled. Looking back, she believes they could have handled it more effectively.

Speaking of her journey, she said she enjoyed it, and she didn't think poorly of it now just because of a few bad days and some bad press, which, in her opinion, affected a lot of people. She believes that there is a possibility that the BCC could have done a better job at handling the situation in question.

It was reported that Barker would no longer serve as the host of A Question Of Sport in September 2020.
