According to a research study that was published in the journal BMJ Open Ophthalmology, COVID symptoms can also have an impact on our eyes and appear as a variety of eye-related symptoms.The researchers employed structured questionnaires to collect self-reported data from 83 participants, including patients who tested positive for COVID. The research team discovered that eye-related COVID symptoms are most common.

Light sensitivity was the most frequent symptom in study participants, but the "most significant" symptom, according to the researchers, was aching eyes. According to the study, a small number of patients experienced only mild respiratory symptoms from COVID but had severe conjunctivitis. The research institute further stated that conjunctivitis does not have the same impact as painful eyes. The term "conjunctivitis" is too broad, they continued, and should only be used sparingly.

Additionally, almost 81 percent of subjects reported having eye symptoms two weeks after experiencing other COVID-19 symptoms. 80 percent of the participants in the study said that their eye-related symptoms subsided after two weeks.
