Strep A deaths: Fatal disease kills 15 children in UK
According to the UK Health Security Agency, there is currently no proof which says a new strain of Strep A has started circulating. The hike in cases is thought to be caused by an increase in social mixing and high levels of bacteria.

According to recent data for England, there have been 13 more fatalities since September.
Wales and Northern Ireland are where the other two fatalities were reported. Scarlet fever, strep throat and the skin diseases impetigo are conditions brought on by Strep A.
Although most infections are minor, invasive Group A Streptococcus disease is a potentially fatal condition that can develop from the bacteria. The number of reports of the disease's invasive form since September, according to the UKHSA, has increased from the same period during the previous five years to 652. During this season, there have been 85 incidences of Strep A infections in youngsters from one to four years old.
In that age group, there were 194 illnesses throughout the previous high season in 2017–2018. There have also been 60 incidents involving kids between the ages of five and nine. In England, 60 fatalities across all age groups have been reported since September.
