In one of his BBC interviews, veteran American director Steven Spielberg expresses his guilt and regret for endangering sharks while filming Jaws.He regrets that in 1975, when shooting the thriller's release, the director was involved in a frenzy of sport fishing.
There are two notes of danger when watching the film Jaws. When seeing the movie, there would be an instant conjuring of risk, and there is a clear indication of the threat of a great white shark. After a half-century wait, director Steven Spielberg gave up the award-winning performance with a fear of vile creatures in 1975.It is genuinely regrettable as, looking at the current statistics, the world's shark population is shrinking daily.
According to a global study, since the early 1970s, the population of aquatic creatures like rays and sharks has fallen in the ocean by 71 percent due to overfishing. The American director further added that he still regrets the decimation of the shark population. Spielberg continued by saying he still fears whether the sharks will eat him during the feeding frenzy of crazy sports fishermen. Sharks are now on the "red list" of threatened species and will be extinct soon.
