Stand-up comedian Rhod Gilbert diagnosed with cancer, relocates to new home near hospital, reveals wife

Stand-up comedian Rhod Gilbert's wife Sian Harries has disclosed that while her husband battles cancer this summer and the couple have relocated three times. Considering the comedian's battle with cancer, the writer and actor said that the couple just evacuated their home to be nearest to the hospital.

The 53-year-old stand-up comedian revealed this summer that he had been diagnosed with cancer and has since been having treatment at Cardiff's Velindre Cancer Centre. It is the same facility for which he has been raising funds for the last 10 years.

Despite everything, Harries and Gilbert, who have been married since 2013, can maintain their optimism thanks to the support of their friends and loved ones.

Rhod announced his cancer news on Facebook without specifying the type of cancer. However, he stated that he was in the safest hands available.

He added that the last 10 years have been a significant part of his life and that he has interacted with so many incredible members of the staff, sufferers, and their relatives.



The entertainer has worked incredibly hard to raise funds for the Cardiff Velindre Cancer Center, including a trek to the top of Africa in September 2013. Rhod v Kilimanjaro, a television show, presented recordings of his adventure.

With the help of more travel in 2019 and 2022, Rhod led a trek to Patagonia in 2015 and helped the center raise several hundred thousand pounds.

He allegedly had a probable mini-stroke 2 years later. He recalled the incident when his left arm began to tremble at home while using the washroom.

After being referred to a stroke center, Rhod began raising money for the Stroke Association.

Additionally, he never thought he would be one of the patients here. He knows he is in good hands for his cancer treatment because he participated in the adventure to raise money and meet the best people in the world.

Gilbert took a break for his health

Rhod has been a recurring character in many comedy series, such as Would I Lie To You? and Never Mind The Buzzcocks. Recently, due to throat and neck pain, he was compelled to postpone his comedy appearances.


When Gilbert later acknowledged that he was receiving cancer treatment, he declared that he would be taking a break for some time to focus on his health.
