A horrific incident came to light from the Valencian city of Segorbe on Sunday when a 51-year-old Spanish man was arrested on homicidal charges. He attempted to burn his partner alive by lighting her gown on fire. He broke into the house, sprayed the gown with petrol and set it alight. Thankfully, the woman managed to escape the fire unhurt, by quickly removing her burning gown. However, the fire spread to her living room and kitchen. Firefighters reached the scene on time and doused the fire before it caused any casualties.
The man then fled the scene in a car. After the incident came to light, the Guarda civil searched high and low to locate the accused but to no avail. He later turned himself up in the coastal municipality of Burriana the following evening. The man will be charged with an attempt to murder.
The couple were said to be in a relationship for a year before the woman decided to end it.
