Snapchat video captures moments before Newcastle University student took fatal dose of ketamine

A high-achieving student took a deadly amount of ketamine just before a Snapchat video was made. According to the little video, Jeni Larmour was not forced to take medicine.

In October 2020, Jeni Larmour, aged 18, from Newtonhamilton, Northern Ireland, passed away just hours after enrolling at Newcastle University. With her new roommate Kavir Kalliecharan, she sniffed ketamine, a tranquilizer, before ingesting a fatal combination of the two, Newcastle Coroner's Court heard.

Kavir Kalliecharan, a 20-year-old Leeds resident who told police the ketamine was Jeni Larmour's, was not prosecuted for supplying it.


He maintained the ketamine was not his when specialised search officers with police dogs searched the Park View Halls' apartment. The officers discovered ketamine, cannabis, and MDMA in his room.

On her phone, Jeni Larmour recorded a Snapchat video of herself in Mr. Kalliecharan's bedroom with white powder on a table. The video was not aired in the court, but witnesses have seen it.

Kavir Kalliecharan said on Tuesday that the substance made him extremely ill, causing him to throw up for hours before going to sleep.

Kavir Kalliecharan claimed to have discovered Jeni Larmour dead and face down on his bedroom floor at about 5 in the morning.
