Sir Nicholas Serota stated that London is a culture-rich city with libraries, museums, and art galleries as crucial as the river Thames. His organization, Arts Council England, was proud of England’s heritage. As such, the Council has launched an investment programme for the coming three years.

The programme will include an annual investment of £446 million in multiple cultural and creative organizations across England.
Serota added that his Council has been making efforts to ensure that every creative individual can access better cultural and creative facilities in whichever part they are in. The Council has shifted the proportion of investment in London, an idea by Nadine Dorries, the former Cultural Secretary.

However, while the Council will invest in other parts of England, it aims to keep London at the centre of Britain’s creative and cultural ecology. He added that one-third of the programme’s investment would stay in London.
