Bruce Springsteen announced Thursday that he would be releasing an album of classic R&B/soul covers on November 11 called Only the Strong Survive.

Springsteen stated that he wanted to record an album where he just sang. He added that nothing was a better musical repertoire than the legendary American songs of the 1960s and 1970s.
He was influenced by David Ruffin, Levi Stubbs, Jimmy Ruffin, the Iceman Jerry Butler, Dobie Gray, Diana Ross, and Scott Walker. He tried to honour every one of them and the fantastic composers of this magnificent music.
