Singapore Airlines tragedy: Photos reveal chaotic aftermath, shocking images show passengers' plight

In a tragic incident, a British national, aged 73, died of a heart attack while onboard a Singapore Airlines flight which was hit by severe turbulence while flying above the Indian Ocean.

A British pensioner, Geoffrey Ralph Kitchen, who was in his early 70s, passed away on a Singapore Airlines Boeing 777 aircraft due to a heart attack which happened after he was hurled from side-to-side when severe turbulence hit the plane flying 37,000 ft above the Indian Ocean, according to a 'Daily Star' report.

The Singapore Airlines aircraft was bound for Singapore but had to make an emergency landing at Thailand's Suvarnabhumi International Airport. Images from the Bangkok airport saw emergency services rushing inside the plane and carrying the injured and affected passenger, but the damage was already since he was pronounced dead.

Images of accident circulated on social media

Singapore Airlines Flight SQ321 which was en route the Changi Airport from London's Heathrow Airport, left multiple passengers injured as the treacherous conditions above the Indian Ocean left the aircraft rattled. In the pictures that have emerged recently, flight attendants of SQ321 also look injured and many passengers seemed distressed due to the mishap. A woman flight attendant was shown injured with a cut on her face while a passenger was seen sitting in his seat, severely bloodied.


Air masks dropped down

Images from the aircraft also show the in-flight meals rolling across the floor while air masks are also deployed for the passengers, typically seen in the case of emergency landing scenarios. Moreover, the deadlier scenario of ceiling fittings and exposed pipes were also shown in these images, depicting how critical the onboard situation was while the aircraft was flying at 30,000-plus ft over the Indian Ocean, carrying more than 200 passengers.

According to Daily Star's report, a passenger claimed that the aircraft had suffered an 'instant drop' which meant that people not wearing a seatbelt were instantly flung in the air towards the ceiling, crashing down on the floor moments later.
