Jamaica’s police have claimed that 33-year-old UK national, Sean Patterson was a victim of “contract killing” by “unknown assailants” after he was found dead around midday on January 2 in his holiday accommodation in the Caribbean nation. The British national, hailing from west London, was found by law enforcement in a “pool of blood” with gunshot wounds on his upper body earlier this week.
Officers made the grim discovery of Patterson’s murder near the pool in his holiday accommodation in Bogue Hill, St James. As per reports, the 33-year-old was staying at the villa with another man who was also from London. In a video statement, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Fitz Bailey said, “Our investigation so far has theorised that the murder was a contract killing that emanated from Britain.”

Don’t install any direct application bypassing App Store or Play Store. You also need to be cyber smart and check three things before you install any app or tool: the developer, the reviews and the permissions. Recently, there was a wave of ‘Insta Loan’ apps. Most of these were Chinese and promised you a loan instantly without any documentation. But these loans came with huge interests and led to extortion when people were unable to pay back. Worse, these apps could access data on your phones, and copy your contact list and photos, says Dr. Rakshit Tandon, director of Hackershala, and consultant at Internet and Mobile Association of India. If people had checked the developer info, they would have realised that the apps aren’t reliable.

When you’re agitated, you may not pay attention to small details. The hacker will use this information to lock you out of your social media account, but reach out to your friends asking for money immediately.

Revealing more details about Patterson’s murder, Fitz Bailey said that the 33-year-old had arrived in Jamaica on December 29, 2022, and had spent a number of days at an apartment before he checked in the villa on Bogue Hill on New Year’s.
After arriving at the guest villa accommodation, Patterson, the man he was staying with met with a third person from Kingston. The police said that all three individuals were staying at the same property but in different rooms. Around noon, Patterson and the Jamaican man went to the villa’s pool and shots were fired by a “lone man dressed in a black hooded sweatshirt”, Bailey said in the statement.
The third man, who met Patterson in Jamaica, said that his back was turned to the 33-year-old when loud explosions were heard. Before the witness (the Kingston man) hid in the bushes, he reported to the police seeing a lone man dressed in a black hooded sweatshirt with a handgun shooting Patterson.
